19. October 2012: Restaurant Ocean Lounge
I figured it is actually possible to find lunch in Zurich for reasonable prices and acceptable quality of food – at the restaurant Ocean Lounge. With the menu of the day salad from the buffet is included. The selection is limited, the products are fresh and the sauce is industrially produced. So, it is a salad buffet with fine ingredients but the salad sauce really brings down the quality.
After that buffet I expected nothing much from the main course – a “grilled chicken breast in a cream sauce with vegetables from the market and pasts” (CHF 18.50 incl. the above mentioned salad from the buffet). And it was actually quite good. The chicken breast was not to dry and not to juicy – just right. The rice was okay and the “vegetables” were spinach which was not tasting like much. But the cream sauce (with mushrooms) was good too. All in all, a good dish – no question about that!
The prices are more than fair with less than CHF 20.00 for a whole lunch where you would walk out and actually not feel hungry again one hour later. Water is not cheap with CHF 6.50 for a bottle (0,5L Rhäzünser) but still acceptable. The interior is pretty boring – nothing special so nowhere you want take your business partner to but if you are hungry and only have few time for lunch, then the Restaurant Ocean Lounge is the place to go. The service is also friendly and helpful but not too attentive.
