27. October 2012: Restaurant Brasserie Flora
Hearty and typical Swiss food – pretty average. Starting with a mixed salad with croûtons and homemade sauce which was rather simple but tasty.
As a main course something very typical was served – “Geschnetzeltes Zürcher Art” with a mushroom sauce. The meat was quite chewy and not really tasty. The mushrooms were definitely not fresh but most likely came just right from the can. At least they put enough condiments to the sauce so you would not taste the artificiality right away.
The “Rösti” on the other hand was quite okay – nicely crunchy, not too fatty, good taste. Definitely not the best Swiss Rösti ever but absolutely acceptable.
The “Vanilla Panna Cotta with cherry sauce” was sweet and tasty but definitely not outstanding but rather artifical. Generally, the dishes were not persuading at all. The price was fair though – with only CHF 38.00 for all together I guess one should not complain.
The service was also average – although she was friendly she definitely lacked in service skills. The place itself is also not outstanding but fine. Overall, the Restaurant Brasserie Flora is definitely not one of my favourites.
