23. November 2012: Restaurant Tapa Tapa
The Restaurant Tapa Tapa is a typical tourist place in the harbour of Barcelona – so I did not expect too much and I was right about it. The tomato salad with tuna and onions (EUR 5.30; “Tomaquet amb ventresca de tonyian”) was quite okay – the tuna was not raw as displayed but cooked. The tomatoes were definitely not fresh but overall it was okay.
The second “fried fish” (EUR 5.10; “Assortit de peixtes fregits”) was pretty much an assortation of fish “rests” – basically just some fish thrown into boiling oil being fried. It was eatable, no question, but it was definitely far from high quality food.
At least my last course was quite okay – the black rice with sepia and garlic cream (EUR 10.40 for two people; “arros negre amb sipia” was actually quite tasty. The rice was crunchy and yummy – definitely the best course although still far from outstanding.
The place is – as initially mentioned – nicely located in the harbour of Barcelona. You get to sit right next to the sea and to look outside and enjoy the view. Then again the design of the place is rather simple – cheap tables, cheap chairs and all in a plastic hut.
The waiter was friendly and did his job – stuff was brought, he was friendly, and that was already it.
Overall, the Restaurant Tapa Tapa is nice to sit down and have a beer on a sunny day as the view to the harbour is nice – other than that it is not too recommendable. The food is okay, the service is okay, the place is okay, and last but not least, the prices are okay but none of the things are outstanding in any way.
