7. December 2012: Restaurant Martinjak

| December 13, 2012 | 0 Comments

For starters I had a “Jerusalem artichoke cream soup with a minced meat loaf and artichoke” (EUR 7.20) which was very tasty. I was not sure what exactly Jerusalem artichoke was but it was in any case very appealing and of good taste.

As I have not tried a Wiener Schnitzel yet (since April this year) in Vienna, I figured I should give it a try and actually try the “Viennese Schnitzel from the “milk veal” …

… with potato onion salad (refined with pumpkin seed oil)” (EUR 17.80). The Schnitzel was definitely good – no question about that. The meat was a little bit too thick in my taste but it was very good overall. The bread crumbs crust was fine, thin, and of good taste. The potato salad was nicely refined with the pumpking seed oil but somehow was not as persuasive as the Schnitzel was.

The place itself is quite nice – it is somehow like in a little hut in the middle of the Alps but in a very modern way which provides you with a feeling of somehow being up in the mountains but still in the middle of the city. The service is friendly but a bit too slow in my personal opinion – as we had to wait quite some time until our courses were served (especially given that at 2pm the place was half-empty or even more than half-empty).

The prices for the dishes are relatively high for lunch time but if you book your table via Delinski.at you get 30% off the bill for 5 EUR which pays off pretty quickly especially as you do not only get the discount on the food but also on the drinks (e.g. Coke Zero EUR 3.20, Green Tea EUR 3.40).

To sum it up, the Restaurant Martinjak is a nice place with good food, fair service and fair prices – especially if booked through Delinski.at.
