25. February 2010: Restaurant Pizzeria Malastrana Rossa

| February 26, 2010 | 1 Comments

The pizzeria Malastrana Rossa is located close to the Brera area (reachable with the green metro line, metro stop Lanza) in Corso Garibaldi which is easily reachable by foot.

Although the place doesn’t look to oappealing from the outside (somehow cheap and red), this changes when you enter the restaurant. You’re warmly welcomed and quickly guided to your table. Although, the place doesn’t look too overwhelming from the inside either, but because the place is so filled with people, it gets somehow a cozy and nice atmosphere because you’re surrounded by loudly talking people and because the place is quite filled with tables, you’re close to the next table, making you part of the experience around you.

The waiters are friendly and helpful. The menu is already lying on the table when you’re brought there. The menu is quite big to chose from offering appetizers, primi, secondi and a variety of pizzas. Once you’ve ordered, the dishes are arriving quite quickly. This had though the negative effect that my pizza was brougth alone before the primi of my company.

Skipping the appetizers because they’re quite costly, I enjoyed a Pizza Capriciosa with additional gorgonzola as a topping. The pizza was good, having the positive impact especially because the gorgonzola on top was very tasty.

As a desert a “Sorbetto di Limone” was served which was delicious in taste but lacked somehow the classical consistency of a sorbet, being too liquid.

Interestingly enough, the place was still very crowded when we left it (around 10:30 pm) and people were still queueing to actually get in. Therefore, it’s definitely recommended to reserve a table if you want to have dinner after 8 pm.

Overall, the Pizzeria Malastrana Rossa seems to be quite an “in”-place looking at the kind of people being there plus the amount of pepole wanting to have dinner there. The prices reflect this perception somehow. Whereas a pizza has quite a normal price, primi and secondi are not that cheap.
