21. December 2012: Restaurant Tinto
The Restaurant Tinto is the closest to a Spanish restaurant I have found so far in Zurich. Not like most copies, they serve real tapas which actually taste like the ones you get in Spain. We started with Albondigas (CHF 9.00) which where fine.
In addition to that, we had “Pimientos de Padron” (CHF 9.00), Boquerones (CHF 8.00), and Chorizo Cidra (CHF 14.00). The Pimientos were tasty, the Boquerones as well. Only the chorizo was somehow “disappointing”. I don’t really know why but it was just not what I expected. And it somehow missed the spiciness. Still, not bad.
They had something like a “daily special” on the menu, and today it was “Croquetas Pulpo” (CHF 2.00 each) which were basically croquetas filled with some kind of octopus cream and they were quite tasty.
The prices for the food are quite fair, but the prices for the beverages are rather heavy. CHF 9.50 for a glass of red wine, Prima (1 DL), CHF 9.50 for a litre of mineral water. The place is lively, very crowded and nicely decorated. The service is good, the waitress and the owner are friendly.
Overall, the Restaurant Tinto is the perfect place to sit down with a glass of wine and enjoy some good tasting tapas in a nice environment and chat with friends.
