19. April 2013: Restaurant Samurai

I have been recommended the Restaurant Samurai a couple of times for sushi – and I was definitely not disappointed! The lunch menu starts with a miso soup which is rich and a fine start for lunch.

The “Sushi and Sashimi Set” (CHF 30.00) with tuna, salmon, king fish, prawn and california rolls, tuna sashimi, salmon sashimi and king fish sashimi was absolutely mouth-watering. I mean, I have had great tasting sushi for example in Vienna (DOTS – Experimental Sushi), but sushi in this quality I have never enjoyed in Zurich.

The price is very fair for Zurich – but it does not only apply to the dishes but also to the beverages. Green tea is included in the lunch menu and the espresso does only account for CHF 4.00. The place itself is rather simple and not too appealing overall but the dishes make up for it. The waitresses are friendly and helpful but do not really speak any language but Japanese but they understand the Swiss German buzz words.

Overall, the Restaurant Samurai is absolutely worth going – great sushi, fair prices, friendly service (and not such great atmosphere). Booking highly recommended!
