29. March 2014: Restaurant DOTS – Experimental Sushi
Although time has passed and it is about two years ago since I had least dined at Restaurant DOTS – Experimental Sushi it was as great as this time. As a starter the “DOTS Sushi Set” was served and the range of different sushi ranging from “Hello Kitty Sushi” to “California Foie Gras” was a breathdaking experience. The sushi is fresh, rich in taste and the variety of flavour combinations is mind-boggling.
Next was the “Teriyaki Set” which was not an inch less dazzling than the Sushi Set – the selection of meat and seafood was not only vast but only aromatic and tasty but obviously, after the first plate, the second was somehow definitely way too much. Even the vegetables served on the plate were truly tasty.
Shortly before the end of the night a little digestivo was served which did definitely help after the vast amounts of food. You have to be indeed quite patient to get your food but I guess on a Saturday night at 9pm is not really the time to expect rapid and quick service but at least they were friendly and had patience to keep the place open till 3am when we kept sitting, drinking and talking.
The interior is nice but when the light is finally switched on you see that the place already exists for quite some years as it is not as nice as when the place is held in dark.
However, the Restaurant DOTS – Experimental Sushi in the 6th district of Vienna is absolutely worth a visit if you are fond of Japanese food which is definitely prepared in a surprising way. Aromatic, tasty, rich, absolutely great food. Lovely atmosphere too – as long as you are not the ones to close the door behind you and the service is friendly and helpful but you have to be patient when you are there during rush hour. In any case, I can recommend it!
