5. May 2014: Restaurant Grandis
Sometimes you just have to return to the same place within a couple of days because of what you have experienced the last time – it is just 5 days ago since I have been first at the Restaurant Grandis. And I must say that the restaurant was up to the task this night too. The “green salad with mushrooms and bacon” (CHF 17.00) was refreshing with a nice salad sauce, tasty mushrooms, thick bacon and last but not least a fig mustard to top it off perfectly.
As a main course I went for the “venison filet with polenta and vegetables” (CHF 45.00) which was perfectly cooked medium-rare as requested, flavourful and aromatic, luscious in taste. The polenta was coarse but nevertheless very smooth. The vegetables which were served with it were sensorically great.
Together with the meat, a “herb butter” and “garlic sauce” were served which were both outstanding and at the same time very taste-intense. The garlic sauce was almost a bit too intense but nevertheless it was of great taste. Again, the service was almost flawless – only sometimes you had to wait a tiny bit too long in order to have your water glass refilled.
The place is still absolutely outstanding – great design and mixture of modern and traditional. Absolutely lovely!
