Champagne Sabering @ The St. Regis Florence (23. April 2016)

| June 26, 2016 | 0 Comments

Although I was not staying at The St. Regis in Florence, we managed to attend the “Champagne Sabering” which has tradition in the St. Regis’ as my friends were staying there. When you attend the event, you are served with some small dishes – a fruit salad, a crab cocktail, and some other fish dish.

What comes on top of it is some oysters and while I am definitely not a big fan of this dish I still tried one and it was actually surprisingly tasty for being and oyster.

The St. Regis Hall where the event takes place every day (and you are then, quite obviously, served a glass of champagne) is actually lovely and quite impressive but they somehow do not manage to create a smooth transition between the “lounge area” and the “restaurant area” in the room itself. The “lounge” part does somehow really not fit the St. Regis idea.

The waiters are swift, friendly, and very professional – but only not that attentive. We had to kind of waive at them various times until we were finally brought the bill. And they were kind enough to not include the tea my friend ordered (as he wasn’t feeling too well) instead of the champagne.

If you stay at the St. Regis, you should definitely attend the Champagne Sabering. However, I have experienced more impressive Champagne Sabering for example at the St. Regis Punta Mita. Still, absolutely go if you stay here!
