3. September 2010: Birreria

The Birreria is located in the Navigli Area of Milan which is easily reachable by various means of transportation (tram 3 or tram 9 or 29/30). There are several restaurants and bars close to the Birreria like the King’s Pub, Ristorante Flamba, Ristorante La Tradizionale, Ristorante Il Pellaprat, the Vintage Pub, the StraRipa Bar, Ristorante Locanda dei Dü e Més or the Ristorante Officina 12.

The Birreria is not too appealing from the outside but is somewhat good as it is always crowded. The inside looks a bit nicer but is still somewhat shabby as the interior is entirely held in wood – old wood.

The service is friendly, but not really quick but this is partly to blame on the fact that the place is always so crowded. What is their specialty though and what you should really try out is the beers they’re having – not so much because of the taste of the beers but of the form of the “glasses” they’re served in.

The one you can see below is “La Piovra” which is basically just a large mug with hoses attached through which you can get the beer out.

The one below is yet another large mug filled with beer – still impressive.

The price for the beer is acceptable. All in all, the Birreria is just a place you want to get to to have a couple of beers before going out in Milan. But, for that, the place is just perfect.
