11. September 2010: Restaurant Hotel Kurhaus
The Hotel Kurhaus is located towards the further end of the town of Lenzerheide and not too far from the Golfclub Lenzerheide. We’ve booked an arrangement of the Golfspektakel 2010 (www.golfspektakel.ch) and in that, a dinner at the Restaurant in the Hotel Kurhaus was included.
The dining room is quite nice in design and also the arrangement of the tables and on the tables was nice.
The waiters are nice and fun, trying to be helpful at any time, but it seemed that our table was forgotten in brining the first round of drinks. After explaining to the waiter that we were still waiting, the drinks were served within minutes.
The starter was “Sautierte Riesencrevetten auf buntem Blattsalat an Mango-Passionsfruchtdressing” (King Prawns on mixed salad with mango-passion-fruit-dressing). The king prawns as well as the salad – especially with the combination of the dressing – fit perfectly together.
The main course was “Ghackets & Hörnli – Rahmgehacktes mit Apfelmus” which is a typical Swiss dish, although it was good for being Ghackets with Hörnli (some sort of pasta), it was somewhat disappointing with regards to the selection of the dish.
As a desert, we got “Eis am Stiel” which is basically “Ice on a stick”. Although it was supposed to be funny, the joke didn’t really come across. For me, a total disappointment in picking the menu.
What has to be said though is that the choice of dishes can not be blamed on the hotel as the selection has been taken by the organisers of the Golfspektakel. Not that you can blame them really (as their company just went bankrupt last year) but on the other hand, it was still disappointing.
The dishes we got served were good though (the way they were prepared) and the waiters were friendly and helpful. Also the atmosphere is nice but not overwhelming, and the prices for the drinks are decent (I can’t judge on the food prices as it was once more included in the package).
