Great lunch offering for a relatively decent price: Restaurant Lido Malkasten (16. January 2019)

| May 7, 2019 | 0 Comments

The Lido Malkasten has a little ‘friend’ in the harbor of Düsseldorf called Lido Hafen and I can highly recommend it. Accordingly, my expectations for the Lido Malkasten were relatively high. And I must say, I was not disappointed. As a starter I went for the “Burrata & Parma” (EUR 14.00). The combination was mouth-watering. The burrata had an intense flavor but wasn’t too salty and the Parma ham was good but not too intense and relatively smooth to bite (which it often isn’t). The service made sure you’d be attended at all times.

As a main course, I went for the “beef tatar, frisee lettuce, truffle mayo” (EUR 19.00) which was good but I was missing the serving of some toasted bread.

The “French fries” were nicely crispy and not too greasy and actually went quite well with the truffle mayonnaise which was rather intense in terms of flavor. But the combination really did the trick.

The place itself is also nice in terms of atmosphere and design and rather spacious. Booking for lunch is not really necessary as there were barely any tables occupied but I suppose that highly depends on the day. While the prices are a bit up compared to many other lunch offerings in the area, I think they are up for a reason, i.e. the higher pricing is fair for what you get in terms of service, atmosphere, and quality of food.
