6. March 2011: Restaurant Brasserie Federal
The Cordon Bleu with asparagus and French Fries in the Restaurant Brasserie Federal in the Zurich main station is pretty big. The Cordon Bleu is pretty thick and somehow compressed – not in an industrial way it seems which makes you use your masseter! The taste of the Cordon Bleu is okay – nothing overwhelming but with a bit of ketchup it’s pretty okay. The asparagus is hard, chewy and not really tasty. The French Fries on the other hand are quite okay as they’re crispy and not greasy. Also, the price – for the amount of meat – you pay is pretty okay accounting for CHF 24.80.
The Brasserie Federal is located in the Zurich main station and is basically an old train waiting hall which is now used as a restaurant. The atmosphere is okay, the crowd is pretty regular or below (people just waiting for trains) and the service is limitedly friendly.
All in all, the Restaurant Brasserie Federal is a great place to have a couple of beers before catching your train to the army – otherwise, it’s nothing to recommend.
Close to the Restaurant Brasserie Federal are several restaurants like the Restaurant Au Gratin, the Restaurant Didi’s Frieden, the Restaurant Rheinfelder Bierhalle, or the Restaurant Walliser Keller.
