Delicious meat where you wouldn’t necessarily expect it: Restaurant Chicago Meatpackers Dubai (14. March 2021)
Somehow I was craving meat that night and the Chicago Meatpackers was recommended by the very competent concierge at the W Dubai – The Palm, Angélica. I was, admittedly, skeptical since it was at The Pointe which seemed like a collection of restaurants which were more there for the fun of it than really being great restaurants, so, let’s say, I was positively surprised.
The place is actually simple but nice, especially, when you arrive rather late at night since they have a little water play (of 1-3 minutes) and light show. What is even better though is the friendliness of the service as well as their attention. I went for the “grilled bone marrow (hand cut crisps, chimichurri)” (AED 76) which was not only a nice portion but also very delicious in terms of flavor. And the hand-cut crisps were much better than all the crisps you can buy in supermarkets.
The “USDA certified 150 day grain fed Angus Beef (250gr, Rib Eye)” (170 AED) with “Jalapeño lime buttered corn” (AED 28) and “Sauce Béarnaise” (AED 15) turned out to be equally delicious. The meat is tender and incredibly aromatic. They manage to grill it in a way that it carries its flavor fully, has a nice grill taste, and doesn’t have some weird aftertaste like you so often experience (unfortunately). So, all in all, really a perfect piece of beef! The “jalapeño lime buttered corn” was enjoyable but had more cheese than anything else. Not that this was bad, but not exactly what I had in mind. However, still good.
All in all, the Restaurant Chicago Meatpackers Dubai was actually a surprisingly great experience in terms of service quality, food quality, and overall surroundings. And definitely substantially better than it’s sister franchise Restaurant Chicago Meatpackers Frankfurt which I visited in 2016. All in all, if you’re looking for a good piece of meat on The Palm Jumeirah, the Chicago Meatpackers is a good choice!
