An interesting food experience in a touristic setting: Restaurant Morning Glory Original (26. December 2023)

As part of the tour, the dishes for the dinner were pre-organised, and it all started with a “spicy seafood noodle soup”, which was quite perfect since it really frees up your sinuses, just as it has to be. Other than that, the broth was tasty and enjoyable – so, it made, overall, for an enjoyable start.

Secondly, they served the “white rose dumplings” we just had tried earlier that day in the Quan Thang Ancient House – and they were actually better because the topping here was more enjoyable.

The “BBQ chicken with lime leaf” was not really what blew me away since the chicken was a bit too chewy for my personal gusto, but the little salad on the side was nice and enjoyable.

What was surprisingly good, and I definitely hadn’t expected, was the “stuffed squid with pork and the stir-fried green beans”. The stuffed squid was actually excellent. I mean, who would have thought the abomination of one land animal stuffed into a sea animal would be so enjoyable, but it was! And the beans worked marvellously with the squid.

The “stewed fish in clay pot with steamed rice” wasn’t too bad either. Sure, the quality of the main wasn’t as good as the stuffed squid, but it was enjoyable as well. And it worked well together with the rice.

Last but not least, the dessert was enjoyable as well. The combination of the different fruit with the ice cream was good – what didn’t quite make sense, in my opinion, were the peanuts, which were in there.

Personally, although the menu was pre-selected, I enjoyed the food overall. What was even better was the “tea for coughs and colds (contains ginger, red shiso, liquorice, tea tree oil for calming the sinuses, throat, nose, and chest)” (95’000 VND) since it really was enjoyable and lovely warm.

The place itself is rather a place full of tourists, and it has an industrial element to it judging by the speed of which the people are ‘processed’. That being said, the staff is friendly and generally quite attentive, especially considering the number of diners on a said evening.
