29. October 2011: Ristorante da Vittorio

The Zuppa di Pomodoro (CHF 9.50) aka tomato soup is quite okay in taste. It is thick, has elements of tomato in it and is rich in taste. Overall, a good tomato soup. Only the gulp of olive oil which is used to refine it at the end would not be necessary in my opinion.

The filleto di manzo (beef filet; CHF 46.50) is served on a hot stone and looks absolutely tremendously tasty at first. The meat is pretty good but somehow it just lacks in taste, it is tender, has a nice texture but somehow it is not really that great. Not that it was bad but it is also just nothing special. The risotto which I had as a side dish (CHF 4.00) was not really risotto and was just plain boring. I had one bite, that was it.

All in all, the dishes are not bad but they are pretty regular – the only problem is that for the price, they are somehow not really good enough.

The service is very friendly, but also quite inefficient. We had to wait about 10 minutes until someone came to our table to take the order. After that, they were quick but it is not really a great thing if you are hungry and already have to wait for 10 minutes until they take your order.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is okay. It is spacious, the decoration is very simple though, and the kitchen is open (which is a good sign as you can watch them produce pizzas). Somehow as I remember August 2010, they are also not that outstanding at making pasta the Italian way (Review: August 2010, but frankly, the beef filet did not persuade me.
