28. March 2013: Restaurant Bärengasse
“Fire and Ice” was a great start for lunch. The “carrot-chili-ginger soup with mango sorbet” (CHF 12.00) was perfectly balanced between down-to-earth and high-up-in-the-sky. The combination of the spiciness of the chili and ginger combined with the sweetness of the mango sorbet made it absolutely delicious.
The “beef tatar Ojo de Agua” (CHF 36.00) I had as a main course was great – spiced perfectly to my gusto. The meat was super-tender and rich in taste. Nothing more to say about the beef tatar!
The prices are rather fair for Zurich – no question about that. Only the price for mineral water (CHF 12.00 for 1 L of Rhäzünser) is quite steep. The rest – including beverages, e.g. Espresso Doppio (CHF 6.00) – is more than fair. The service is quite great. The waitress was quick, friendly, helpful and when we ordered extra toast, it was brought to us within a few minutes (which is not so usual). I can personally recommend the Restaurant Bärengasse like basically all the restaurants which have “Ojo de Agua” beef by Dieter Meier (Restaurant Kindli, Restaurant Bärengasse and the Restaurant Latino @Astoria Hotel). Booking a table in advance is highly recommended!
