26. August 2010: Widder Bar

| September 1, 2010 | 0 Comments

The Widder Bar is located in the Widder Hotel and is reachable on foot from Paradeplatz or the Zurich main station. Therefore, it’s accessible by various means of transportation. Also, in its vicinity are the Restaurant Churrasco and the Restaurant Bü’s.

The entrance to the bar is located right next to the main entrance and looks quite unpretentious. The impression changes the moment you’re in. The interior design is very nice and the atmosphere is created in a way which makes you feel very comfortable. In addition, the piano player playing live music supports this.

The tables are quite small and usually it’s a couple’s place but you can easily fit a bit a larger group there too as the waiter is helping immediately with re-arranging the tables. Furthermore, you’re provided with small snacks right away. Once you’ve ordered the drinks with your waiter it only takes them a few minutes to prepare and bring them.

The service is great as the waiter keeps appearing every couple of minutes to check on you without being presumptuous. Also, the snack bowls are substituted as soon as they’re empty with full ones – like ten times an evening.

The little downside are the prices – although what you get for it is quite good, the prices are in the higher range for a bar (CHF 20.00 for a drink, CHF 7.00 for a shandy).

All in all, the Widder Bar is a really great place with a great atmosphere, great service, good drinks and a bit high prices – but still, it’s worth going there!
