4. October 2010: Restaurant Mardi Gras
The restaurant Mardi Gras is located within walking distance from the “Naturmuseum Luzern” and is easily reachable on foot from the main station. Also, it is accessible by various means of public transportation (Postauto, stop “Hirzenhof”; AAGR, “Kasernenplatz”). In its vicinity are other restaurants and bars located like the Restaurant Opus, the Lounge @Hotel des Balances, or the Sopranos Café.
The Mardi Gras looks nice from the outside – like a typical French café. You can also sit outside and enjoy the calmness of the surrounding streets (forbidden for cars to access).
The waitress is friendly and quick in serving the ordered drinks. In addition, also the Humus we’ve ordered came within reasonable time. It was made quite good and was tasty but it was just not as fine as the traditional Humus you get served when you’re in one of the Arabic countries. Unfortunately, they didn’t serve us pita bread but regular bread – a bit disappointing, but at least when we’ve ordered more bread we got it within a few minutes.
The prices are really fair – a pint costs CHF 4.50 and the Humus only cost CHF 10.00 – quite fair for the quality, the amount and the taste. All in all, the restaurant Mardi Gras is the perfect place to go and enjoy a drink on Saturday mornings or just have a couple of beers in the evening.
