27. October 2011: Restaurant Enchilada
The Plato Gaucho (EUR 15.50) comes in two parts – the essential part with different kinds of meat (beef steak, veal steak, chorizo with peppers) and the second platter with fried potatoes and the dips. The meat is quite okay, the chorizo on the other hand is really coarse and is not so appealing. If it was not strong in taste, it would be very difficult to enjoy it. The potatoes on the other hand are simply not good. They are dry and really tasteless. I tried one and had my share after that. If it was not for the dips, the potatoes would definitely not be eatable.
The place itself is quite okay, the decoration is not really existent but still, the whole place has this atmospheric thing so you feel like it is nice. The waitress was very slow at first but to be entirely fair, she was responsible for about 10 tables with approximately 50 people over two floors and had to go up three floors to bring up the stuff. When people started leaving, the delivery time decreased rapidly. The service – looking at it from the restaurants’ perspective – was quite bad, but the waitress was very friendly and helpful. So, they are basically understaffed, but the service qould be quite good.
The prices are quite high for Münster but are still reasonable for what you get (e.g. the meat platter). Also, a Corona costs EUR 3.60 which is much for a beer in Münster but quite okay for a Corona.
All in all, the Restaurant Enchilada is a nice place to have something to eat. While some of the dishes are quite good (at least that is what I have heard), others are not that outstanding. The service is friendly, but you cannot be in a rush as otherwise you should find a less crwoded place.
Close to the Restaurant Enchilada are some other places like the Milch und Honig Lounge, the Altes Gasthaus Leve, the Bar Celona, or the Restaurant Besitos Tapas y Más.
