30. January 2011: Gran Café Motta
An Italian bar in the middle of Zurich – the Gran Café Motta is just that. The interior is a bit brighter than a usual Italian bar but the rest fits. The coffee is great – not to talk of the Cioccolata all’italiana (CHF 5.80) which is practically pure chocolate and tastes terribly good! The chocolate is thick lick glue and when you stir the chocolate you can see its creaminess. The price is absolutely okay for the chocolate – especially for Zurich.
The waitress is really friendly – although she forgot our table in the beginning but apologized than and admitted that she just had completely forgotten about us – and serves rather quick. The atmosphere is rather nice too. The Gran Café Motta is the perfect place to sit down when it’s cold outside (or outside in summer), take a break and read a book.
It is easily reachable from the main station by tram 4 or 15 (stop: Rathaus) or even on foot (800 meters only). In its vicinity are the Rathaus Café, Edi’s Weinstube, the Restaurant Santa Lucia Niederdorf, the Restaurant Rheinfelder Bierhaus “De bluetig Duume”, as well as the Oliver Twist Pub.
