17. September 2010: Restaurant Globus am Bellevue

| September 19, 2010 | 0 Comments

The Restaurant Globus am Bellevue is a self-service restaurant, located in central Zurich and is therefore easily reachable by public transportation (tram 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, and 15; stop “Bellevue”). Also, there are a lot of restaurants and bars in this area (Odeon Bar, terrasse bar, Restaurant Le Cèdre Bellevue, Ristorante Molino-Select Zürich Limmat-Quai, Restaurant Bauschänzli, or the Outback Lodge).

The atmosphere is quite nice for a self-service restaurant but is not overwhelming in general. Also, the place is usually quite crowded.

The Globus Restaurant offers various dishes, mostly Asian ones though. You can pick your dish and eat it at one of the tables. The shortcomming about the tables is that they are quite large and therefore, privacy is not really a given.

We went for the Sushi bar with the moving sushi plates – the selection given is quite good but you have to be patient once in a while till the rolls or sashimi you want to have is circling again. Also, the price is quite decent, ranging from CHF 12.00 (2 fishes as a sign on the plate) to CHF 14.00 (3 fishes), CHF 16.00 (4 fishes) and CHF 18.00 (5 fishes).

The sushi is tasty and good-made, but somehow I had the feeling it lacks a bit in freshness.

The Restaurant Globus am Bellevue is a good place to go and have a quick lunch or dinner with qualitatively good food, a generally okay atmosphere (with a lack in privacy) and a bit high prices. All in all, a good restaurant to help yourself quickly with something to eat.
