22. September 2010: Cakefriends
The Restaurant Cakefriends is located close to Bellevue. It’s therefore easily reachable by public transportation (tram or bus; stop “Bellevue”). In its vicinity are other bars like the Odeon, the terrasse, or the Bauschänzli but also restaurants like the Le Cèdre Bellevue, the Molino-Select Zürich Limmat-Quai or the Restaurant Globus am Bellevue.
The place looks okay from the outside but is much nicer inside. It’s not really a fancy or posh place but it is still somehow nice.
The interior is designed simply but because it’s bright and white, it gives you a comfortable feeling. The waitresses are nice and helpful, although the one serving me didn’t even know the wines they have by heart (and it’s only three of them for red wines). In the background is always some music playing – usually quite relaxing one.
The wine is okay in price (ranging between CHF 9.5 and CHF 11.5 for a glass). All in all, Cakefriends – supposedly famous for their cakes and the like – is a nice place to just have a glass of wine if you’re not in a rush and have to wait a bit. Not really the place you desperately want to go to but still a nice place.
