I started the blog in October 2009, while living in Milan which I definitely consider to be one of the food capitals of the world. I was in touch with food since my early childhood (as my father is a former chef). Whenever I can, I travel the world to discover new places, to meet people but mostly to try local dishes and to find hidden gems! If you know a place worth going, please drop a line to: info@thediningexperience.org.
Currently, I am a member of the following food-related associations: Chevalier @Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Zurich-Ville; Membre Gourmet Dégustateur @Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs [OMGD]; Gesellschafter @Goldener Fisch and Member @Slowfood Convivium Zurich City.

A somewhat lucky find offering a truly local experience: Restaurant Mr. Kai (20. December 2023)

Sometimes you’re unlucky and end up being lucky. I intended to go to a different place, but this place was overbooked, hence, it was time to find something quickly for lunch, since the walking tour started 60 minutes later. The Mr. Kai had a 4.6 on Google Maps, so, I decided to give it a […]

An excellent breakfast buffet experience: Restaurant The Ping Cuisine & Bar @ Marriott Chiang Mai (20. December 2023)

As non-eventful as the lobby bar of the hotel is, as great is the breakfast selection in The Ping Cuisine & Bar in the Marriott Chiang Mai – you can find really pretty much everything you need and want. You’re greeted warmly when entering and the waitress, who leads you to your table also takes […]

A relatively disappointing hotel bar experience: Ping’s Bar @ Marriott Chiang Mai (19. December 2023)

Given it was not entirely easy to find a fitting location for drinks, we decided to have a drink at the bar in the hotel, and the “Thai Sabai (Mekhong spiced rum, lemon, Thai basil, lime juice, sugar, soda)” (350 THB) was somewhat okay. I mean, frankly, the drink is okay, but it is definitely […]

A lovely location, but you have to watch out for the mosquitos: Restaurant THE HOUSE by Ginger (19. December 2023)

Upon arrival, it was time to find a place, which offers good and tasty Thai food, hence, the Guide Michelin app was helpful again to find a Bib Gourmand place. Once seated down, we were attended by a very friendly waiter, who would take up the orders and help us out throughout the evening. We […]

A truly local Thai experience you wouldn’t normally discover as a tourist: Restaurant Savoey River View (18. December 2023)

We were lucky enough to get a truly local Thai dining experience as we have been taken around by locals and got to try a few very different dishes (which we couldn’t have ordered as the menu was entirely in Thai). The “crab curry” didn’t look too appealing, but it was actually absolutely exquisite in […]

A food market worth visiting – and where you will be full for sure: Thonburi Market Place (18. December 2023)

Apparently, the Thonburi Market Place has only opened recently, and it’s worth visiting. I mean, it’s not super central, but it is still worth the drive if you are in the city for a few days. It is basically a huge open market with a lot of different market stalls and food stalls – and […]

An absolutely authentic local Thai street food experience: Street Food Stall Guichaisapanhan (กุยช่ายสะพานหัน สาขาตลาดพลู) (18. December 2023)

For more than 8 years I order my shirts and suits from the same Thai tailor, Prince (you can find his produce under http://www.royalasiaboutique.com and he travels to Europe several times a year to take measures and do fittings). And he was so kind to take us out on a day in Bangkok – and […]

A luscious breakfast selection worth indulging in: Restaurant The Kitchen Table @ W Bangkok (18. December 2023)

What I love at Ws is really their luscious breakfast. You find kind of everything you need and want, ranging from the typical sweets and pastries … … to a salad bar … … a variety of juices and drinks … … and even fresh coconut juice in a coconut … … a variety of […]
